I am close to completing my book on the D&RGW K-36s for White River Publishing. The book will be approximately 200 pages and will include a 3page fold out drawing by artist Mike McKenzie. It will include many historic photos from various collections and from photo given to me over the years. An appendix will include the 32 page D&RGW/Baldwin 1925 specifications.
As John Bush reminds us all, the K-36s have run longer on the C&TS than they did the D&RGW, so the final chapters of the book will include the C&TS and D&S operations. I was there for the first C&TS run, first double header, Toltec Rattler, first flanger train, and first rotary run. In addition, Ernie Robart has graciously provided color and B&W photos of the last D&RGW runs and the first C&TS runs, I first started research on this project in 1973, but my Air Force and then Hewlett-Packard careers kept getting in the way. I think it will be a useful addition to D&RGW history.
