On this #GivingTuesday you can double your support of the railroad because Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching up to $2 million of funds raised on Facebook for US nonprofits.
The Nevada Northern Railway Foundation is one of the non-profits that is eligible for the match. Donations made through Facebook’s charitable giving tools on November 28th will be matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit or $1,000 per fundraiser or donate button, until the $2 million in matching funds runs out. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $1,000 because it will be DOUBLED.
The match will begin at 8AM EST (5AM PST) on #GivingTuesday. Its easy to do, click the Donate button and select the amount you wish to donate. Please NOTE the Donate button will not be visible until 8AM EST (5AM PST) on #GivingTuesday, tomorrow, November 28.
On November 20, 2017, after ten months of hard work, doing the federally mandated 1,472 day inspection on Locomotive 93, we did the boiler pressure check. Boiler pressure gauge in Locomotive 93And she passed! We will be using these funds to complete Locomotive 93. Once Locomotive 93 done, we’re back on Locomotive 81. Your donation will help us to complete the work on Locomotive 93! Remember, the Facebook match will only happen on #GivingTuesday, tomorrow, November 28.
At the end of the year, a lot of you support the railroad by making a donation, renewing your membership or becoming a member. What I am asking for you to do, is to make your donation through our Facebook fund raising page, so your donation or membership will be matched and DOUBLED! Please let us know that you donated or become a member by using the Facebook donate button. That way, we can manually record your membership or donation in the railroad’s database."
