Yesterday was another dawn to dusk day in Como. Track to the turntable was completed and track was laid on the turntable itself. A brief "Rusty Spike" ceremony was held to mark the occasion, the spike of honor being a genuine, rusty and crusty C&S spike found in the dirt along the path of the track to the turntable. No. 4 also made its first trip from the Depot to the turntable. (well at least close to the turntable, there is a gondola in the way for now.)
Thanks to all of the volunteers who turned out on short notice to help build track. We will have a "track building demonstration" today as we work to finish the track into the roundhouse so that No. 4 can go inside tonight.
Contractor Jason Smith's truck goes for a spin on the turntable. This was the first test with weight on the table and all went well.
Nearing dark, "Klondike Kate" makes her second run along the track from the depot to the turntable.
