More than once when hostling #4449 while she was traveling with the American Freedom Train we got asked by fans on the platform that allowed a view into the cab, "Where's the worm gear?" and/or "Is the motor in the tender?" And then there was Al Phillips encounter with an irate visitor . . . (See [ngdiscussion.net].)
