Wow, now that was a stretch... hmmm I'd say that guy was to do with the Circus and given the either 1953 or 1957 date of the event coming to town, I guess he was the inspiration for copying that stance, Aussies copy everything of ours and claim it for themselves 
Yes JP, drop ramps below the doors on all our Cattle wagons, but not on the Sheep classes. NZR was still building these bogie vehicles in 1966, there were S class double-deck versions for the Sheep transport.
