The locomotive will be hooked up to the outside reservoir rank via a 15' hose made up by the brake repair crew, from some industrial hose I just happened to have stashed. You can see the gladhand connection. That tank connects to an inside tank which is filled with sand, sealed, and pressurized (we had it hydrotested) to send the sand up top to the storage hopper.
This is me, totally guessing, but, it looks like the hopper might fill a sand dome 3-4 times. It will be interesting to see how much air pressure the external tank will store, to send sand up the pipe, before it has to be replenished. Possibly, in the future, we might install a local compressor, or ship in an airline from the engine house. Apparently one exists now, but, it's in poor shape, and not buried too deep.
