That explains everything!* I got a LOT of flack four years ago for revealing the pending arrangement to transfer all of the histöric railroad equipment at Cedar Fair's park at Knott's Berry Farm to Six Flags' park at Magic Mountain. This would have benefited both parties by allowing Knott's to expand their busy amusement rides into the area currently occupied by the relatively low-capacity trains, while simultaneously enabling Magic Mountain to eventually establish a rail connection to rapidly growing Ventura County to the west by extending a narrow-gauge railroad along the abandoned Southern Pacific r.o.w. to a connection with the Fillmore & Western at Piru. A third (narrow gauge) rail would then be added between Piru and Fillmore to enable trains of the Magic Mountain, Piru & Pacific to reach the heart of Ventura County, and a third (standard gauge) rail would eventually be added between Piru and Magic Mountain to allow MetroLink trains to provide service to this very popular park.
