This is one of the 16'-6" winged tender cisterns. 226 and 407 (347 later) had this type. The tender is a double rivet row tall tender. Pictures show it is so short in length that the stencil barely fits.

Certain that this is the tender that was with 315 all through the 30s. In 1939 the engines spent time out of service, the 316 didn't work from January until September. Can only surmise that the patch on the bottom of the fireman's side of 315's winged tender was a problem and they switched tenders by May to run the 315. The flare top tender that was on the 316 is for sure on the 315 until July '41when the 315 swapped tenders with 318, getting the long "Pagosa Branch" tender that it carried to the park in Durango. The winged tender is on the 316 with a new bottom 1/2 sheet on the FM side. The 316 carried this tender to scrapping. As there are no water car conversions at that time, it must be assumed that it was scrapped with the engine.
