45# rail for sale

If anyone has any use for good used 45# rail, the Southern Forest Heritage Museum has a stockpile of 45# rail that appears to be in good condition that we are wishing to sell to a good home.
The rail has been out in the woods in storage since 1955, but has been inaccessible since about 1975. Logging in the area has allowed access to the rail for the first time since then.

We believe that there could be somewhere around 700 33' joints of this rail in the pile. The pile needs to be moved before the end of October for logging operations to continue. Prepared scrap price in the area is $50 per joint, or $200 per ton. The rail is available at the same price, FOB Long Leaf, LA, and we will move it to accessible storage until it can be picked up. Much of the rail also has joint bars on one end already.

We will need to know if anyone has any interest before Oct. 10, as the movers may move in anytime after that date, and if there is no interest, the rail will be cut into 4' lengths, and sold as "prepared scrap".
