West Durango - Again - New question

Have just been reading some older discussion regarding finding the location of West Durango terminal.
There is one thing that still has me puzzled about West Durango.
It had a two stall engine house and a small pump house and cistern located at the West end just near the start of bridge 162A.
Obviously this was used for pumping water from Lightner Creek.
Where was the water pumped to?
Was it just to provide water supply for fire fighting?
There was no obvious water tank. Was there some small tank in the roof of the engine house?
