Two months later Ernie caught the same two engines, now wearing their proper identification as D&RGW #473 and #483, respectively, as they were being serviced on the morning of 12/06/68.

#473 pulled #481 and several carloads of locomotive parts and supplies west to Durango, while #483 and a caboose returned to Alamosa - the very last D&RGW operation over Cumbres Pass.
