I'm glad to see her getting that needed attention. As I told Jason before, I actually lived in that car for a few weeks in 1955. My Father was assigned to the standard gauging of the Monarch Branch, but while our standard gauge outfit car was being moved to Salida, they yanked one of the draw bars out. There were no other cars available for us to live in while repairs were done, so the D&RGW put us in the 04953. My Mother cried when she saw it.

Later in 1977, I was given the outfit car by the quarry at Monarch. It was the only car left there, but before I could move it, “someone” else hauled it away.

Since I had two small children, I was not able to do any legal things to get the car back.....so I let it go.
