The nice thing about the location in Portland is that Boston railfans, such as my former self (I no longer live in Boston) could take the Downeaster to Portland and walk to the museum. I did that once with a couple friends and it was a great time. I do think a longer line in more appropriate terrain would be a great improvement, and purpose-built track will be a huge improvement over the relatively uneven track in Portland.
