One thing for certain, we ran a lot of big trains back then. In July and most of August that year we doubleheaded every day except for two days. Most trains had every passenger car we owned on them - including Antonito. My notes show most trains on the East end were 9 cars (7 coaches, box/snack car, gon) and the west end was at least 11 cars (1o passenger cars - one a snack car - and a gon.
Back then over the entire season about 2/3 of the trains out of Chama were doubleheaded. I count 9 tripleheaders we ran up the hill.
