In the "Chaser Care-avan Perspective" thread -- which has had an impressively long life -- Earl said, "One of the perks of working for the C&TS is I got to go on a lot of trips that I never would have had the money to pay for. But in trade I only got pics from the wrong side of the lens - like the above."
How about if we show Earl some pics from the other side of his trains? Here's one with Earl on rotary OY. I believe this was 1995, though I'd have to go back to the slide to know for sure. On the one hand, I guess this could be deemed a "phraud-o-graph" (you should trademark that quick, Earl) because of the C&TS lettering and the non-regulation sunglasses Earl is wearing. On the other hand, they really were clearing real snow on a real railroad with real railroaders in order to open the line to real traffic. I can't imagine anyone who was there to have considered this a "phraud."
How great was it to see? Pretty great. I remember in 1991 telling my wife I had to go to Chama to watch the rotary because "it may never run again." Then I told her I was going again in 1993. By 1995, she had wised up and didn't believe it was a rare event at all, that I just made that up. Now that it's been, what, 16 years, I kind of wish she was right!
