When I was in Skagway in April of 2011, a fellow photographer and I did some exploration with some guidance from one of the line's engineers. There are indeed still a few locomotives buried along what used to be the river bank. The course of the river has changed over the years, so the water is no longer right next to the burial locations. Rotary ON has been partially excavated, but is still in place. It is easily visible from all trains headed up the mountain.
