Re: C & S 1113 at the Sundown & Southern

I was part of the Museum's delegation that purchased the C&S/RGS reefer from the Sundown & Southern. To say it was in bad shape was an understatement. It is (I think) the only surviving C&S reefer. If it wasn't for the steel frame it would not have lasted as long as it did. It did have the original trucks. The 2 outer side sills (wood) had to be replaced. Interestingly the insulation was horsehair between the inner and outer walls. Mike Horner and the restoration crew have done an outstanding restoration on this car.
