And mid-season charters?!? The recent two-engine days could not be guaranteed during the regular season, since even a minor problem could take one engine out of service on the day(s) when all four would be needed. Having #463 available next year will ease the situation, and a sixth engine would enable handling extra business as the economy (hopefully) continues to improve.

I am
CONSIDERING paying for production of a very limited edition of 20 full-size (20"x32") giclée prints of the painting below by Jeff Ellingson - The Last Freight / Last Run of #498 - which Jeff has agreed to sign, and selling them for $498 each -
with ALL proceeds going toward a K-37 restoration. An additional batch of maybe 100 12.5"x20" or 15"x24"
unsigned prints to be sold at $98 is also possible. I can also do very good 10"x16" prints on 13"x19" fine art paper here at home
...
$498 x 20 is a little under $10,000 - hardly enough for a K-37 restoration -
but maybe enough to pay a professional grant writer to FIND enough $$ for
a K-37 restoration ...
What do youse guys think? IS ANYBODY INTERESTED??

Taking into account things like grant money associated with historic preservation, donations, income from sales of prints of Jeff Ellingson's beautiful painting of #498's last run on 08/29/68,** and the huge pile of cash from penny machines, screen savers (yes, I'm still working on Volume II), etc.
** The original watercolor is hanging over the easy chair in my living room

Here's a reduction of the high-res scan that Jeff had done before it was framed

... and a close-up of the running gear, showing Jeff's incredible attention to detail

p.s. As of 04/02/15 I've had only one serious response to this offer ...
