Not to stray from the normal content of this forum, but has anyone any news about the Reno at old Tuscan studios? This issue is one of the more troubling issues facing Nevada railroad preservation, despite the tremendous strides taken in the last decade with the restoration of the Virginia and truckee and the progress with the McKeen car and now the Glenbrook, there has been no progress on the status of the Reno locomotive, it is still siting at old Tuscan Studios slowly falling apart for lack of even the slightist care. Clearly the locomotive is the property of old tuscan Studios but surely there is a way to bring about some sort of negotiation with them, would they be willing to sell it if money could be raised? What about good will from the state of Arizona? Surely somthing can be done before the Nevada 150th aniversry of statehood in 2014, to have the old girl back by then would be tremendus and their is another date coming up fast 2018 will be 150 years to the day when the central pacific entered the Truckee meadows and the City of Reno was born, that this locomotive was named in honor of. The fact that such poor care is taken isn't just an insult to Nevada rail-fans and rail-fans in General, but an insult to the people of Nevada and in particularly to the people of Reno itself. I believe that if public knowledge were built on this issue that funds could be raised to buy the locomotive from Old Tuscan, even if it was raised one dollar at a time. But only if they were willing to sell. There is a little online petition that is currently floating around you can find it by googling Locomotive Reno Petition, while it isn't much its a start.
Once again I appoligize for breaking with the normal diologe but this issue is near and dear to my heart.
