Notation reads: “8:20 PM No. 116 on phone at Rock Tunnel, reports mud slide and rock struck engine 150 feet west Mile Post 314 – 4 miles east Osier, extends from pilot to rear of tank, partly covers boiler, heavy trees on top of engine – take about 8 hours to clear- rail turned over under engine.”
Pony trucks and all drivers derailed.

Notation reads: “6:40 PM A R ? on phone says got to have engine 470 from 426 in Alamosa tonight, told him crew tied up at Antonito and would have to call them again, said OK call them as had to have 470 in here tonight – when got Antonito at 7:15 PM fireman J W Johnson had come to Alamosa, they used engine watchman to fire to Alamosa.”
