I recently came across this classic narrow gauge scene thanks to Taylor Rush.
Here we are at Tahoe City in the afternoon on a beautiful summer day on Lake Tahoe. The afternoon passenger train on the 3' gauge Lake Tahoe Railway & Transportation Co. has just left the depot on the pier and is headed back to Truckee to connect with the Westbound SP Overland train.
The beautiful scene dates to just after the turn of the last centrury. Note the steam boat that has just arrived from her trip across the lake and tied up to the dock allowing her passengers to disenbark and climb on the narrow gauge passenger train in time to catch her departure.
Sit back and listen to the Glenbrook as she slowly chuffs by us while her fireman is busy throwing more wood in the firebox as the little narrow gauge train begins her descent out of the Lake Basin along the Truckee River.
