An interesting artical.
Although not Narrow gauge an other interesting locomotive to see for valve gear is 0-6-0T Bellerophon, restored by the Vintage carrage trust in Yorkshire England. She was built around the 1870s and was one of the first locomotives to use piston valves - though she is not supperheated. She has outside Stevenson valve gear driven by a returncrank and eccentrics on the rear driver whilst hte main driver, driven from the piston rod is the centre driver! She is facinating to watch in action. She is a unique servivor from a private coalery where she worked for over 90 years!
Pictures of this loco can be found from www.kwvr.co.uk and www.neotek.demon.co.uk/vct
