I'm having fun sorting through my 50 year old B&W negatives with my new scanner. It is a whole bunch easier (and better) that doing it the old fashioned way in a dark room. While many of the pix are similar to my color slides, I'm finding a few new and interesting views. Here are three of my favorites:
This first one appeals to me because it is the best view I have of the adjustable draft gear on the Alamosa switcher.
I call this one "performing". Many of the Cumbres turns had both photographers and just curious tourists following them, and the crews must have felt like they were putting on a public performance. While turning the engines at Cumbres the brakeman smiles at my camera, a family watches the engine, and two more photogs do their thing on the right.
Finally, I like this one simply because it is so superior to what I was able to do with the same negative in the dark room and then scan it for posting on the web. I'm almost embarrassed at how bad some of my older B&W images are that I posted....a few are still up but I'm trying to replace them as quickly as I can.
The rest of my new B&W stuff can be found
HERE. I'm also beginning to sort them into my Narrow Gauge Memories site
