Hi, All -
While most of us were enjoying Ed Stabler's music (see [
ngdiscussion.net]) Michael,
his assistant George, Roger and some volunteer helpers were positioning lights and
generators, running cables, testing circuits and doing all of the dozens of other little
tasks necessary to making sure everything works as expected.
Here's what the final result looked like from several yards 'behind the lines'; that's Michael in the cowboy hat near the center of the line:
IIRC, Roger's initial statement is about 90% correct - this was the first LARGE SCALE night shoot at Cumbres. Earlier efforts by John West and others generally involved one or two railfans setting up cameras, opening the shutters, and then running around popping off a few flashbulbs. The great thing about Michael's shoots is that there's enough light available to frame and focus accurately, and then a flash of brighter light to effect a good exposure. We are still looking forward to setting up something similar at Osier in the next year or two
