It has always bothered me that that no corroboration has ever shown up for that Climax's being at Maytown. I'm not referring to "no proof beyond a reasonable doubt." I mean that there is nothing suggesting that it has a good chance of being true. You always seem to come down to a recitation of the same old lore that has never been proven in the first place. No documents. No photos. No newspaper accounts. No parts off the locomotive. No person saying that he personally recollects the Climax's being there.
It could be that someone who worked both at White Star and Maytown conflated the two companies by mistake when talking about the locomotive. But there's still no name attached to the original assertion. Even if the person is deceased, you might be able to demonstrate that he was not present at Maytown at the right time to know.
