IIRC, the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the first C&TS train into Chama (Sept. 6, 1970)
is currently scheduled for the weekend of August 27-29, 2010.
I'm paying for a small band so's we can all hang out on the front porch at Foster's and sing
RR songs, and I've reserved a room for Ernie Robart so he can come up on Sunday evening
and present a slide show and talk on the rescue and resuscitation of the C&TS, so at least
SOMETHING will be happening.
And quite a bit more, I hope ...
Soni was planning a special train or two, and there's still a "watch for details" post on the official C&TS website. Also, the newspaper article about the Board Meeting (see [
ngdiscussion.net]) mentioned that "merchandise to celebrate the C&TS 40th Anniversary is being planned." (?)

According to the D&SNG website, Railfest in Durango is scheduled for August 20-24, so one trip to Narrow Gauge Country could get you a solid 10 days of railroading ... IF you fill in the three days in between the D&S and C&TS with NNG trips on the Rio Grande at South Fork (see [ngdiscussion.net]), the Leadville Colorado & Southern in - guess where - Leadville, and DON'T MISS a trip with Earl on the San Luis & Rio Grande from Alamosa to La Veta!

The last time I spoke with Dennis he indicated that the DRHS does NOT plan to run #315 on the C&TS this year.
