Hi, all -
September 29 was one of the highlights of this year's Fall Color season on the C&TS. I was privileged to spend the much of the day with a couple of professional photographers, and to gain some insight as to how they go about their business.
The fall colors were at their peak, and the Director and the Cinematographer put their heads together and decided a double-header would add some interest to their shots:
Engine #484 had sounded a bit out of square as she labored past us below Lobato, and seemed to be having some trouble with her sanders as well. She got across the trestle, but was unable to pull her relatively short eight-car train around the next curve, and backed down to the siding at Lobato. After about half an hour, #489 showed up pushing a pair of ballast cars. She dropped these on the lower end of the siding, and proceeded across the trestle:
#484 then followed with her train, and after #489 was coupled on the "extra" double-header provided us with some extra-special action on an already especially colorful day:
