French Gulch on the LC&S

I notice when I ride the LC&S that the watertank is very far from the track. Is this because of the washout that took out the fill in 1980 and when it was rebuilt it was realigned or is there something I'm missing here? What happened to BN 6223 after it was rebuilt. It took a big plunge thats for sure!
