Hi, John -
Since #483 is apparently going to be used for an interpretive (static) display near the depot in Chama,
I hereby suggest that all future income from Roger's penny machine and sales of the "Help Save #483"
Screen Saver be diverted to a "Help Save #492/497" fund. I'm hoping to complete Volume II of the Screen
Saver this summer, and will dedicate it to the #492/497 fund as well.
I hereby pledge $2500 toward the rebuild of #492/497, PROVIDED that she is painted and lettered AS DELIVERED FROM BURNHAM SHOPS* and maintained & operated in that configuration for at least one year, plus another $500/year for each additional year she is maintained with a 'Moffat Green' jacket and old-style lettering with the herald* on the tender, for up to five years.
* In the interest of short tenders, public relations, patriotism and color photography, use of "Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR" in lieu of "Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad" along with a tri-color herald based on that of the early 1940's should be acceptable. (See [
ngdiscussion.net] and [
ngdiscussion.net].)
