Climax Drawings, An update

July 21, 2001 03:34AM
Some of the readers of this board know that I have been researching Climax locomotive drawings and asking if anyone knows where such can be found. This is in preparation for rebuilding the Climax at Roaring Camp to narrow gauge.
So far I have found out that the major museum libraries ( CSRM, CRRM, Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum, Allen County Historical Society, Corry Area Historical Society) have little in their collections. Most of the spare parts records were destroyed in a flood in about 1933 at the Joseph Reid Gas Engine Co. in Oilville, Pa.. When Walter Cassler died ( the last employee of Climax), his papers wound up being scattered, the bulk of which are "somewhere in Texas.
I have received a good deal of help from several private collectors and have several magazine drawings and pictures.
If anyone has any leads on the Cassler papers, please let me know. Thanks for all the help.
