Be Careful! Some history now may do much more harm than good and things don't need any damage right now. If you are interested in the early CATS history there have been several publications. "Narrow Gauge to Cumbres" by Doris B. Osterwald was printed in 1972 and included the last years of D&RGW. In 1971, Terrence W. Ross published an untitled preservation study that dated much of the rebuilding work. (He was one of the most active persons which saved the line but a terrible engineer/fireman as he almost burned the crown sheet in yard switching when he didn't work the injector as the tender water was too warm. The fire truck didn't look too nice when it brought new water on emergency call.)
Also study "The C&TS-The Historic Preservation Study" by Spencer Wilson and Vernon Gover 1980.
Very shortly will the a photo book of the Final Years by Ernie Robart and Joe Hereford. Next year Robert D. Turner will amaze us with his quality research on the history of the line. PRR
