More about whistles

The earlier thread about whistles and puppies (?) got me thinking...
Some years back a couple of folks from Lionels sound effects department visited the GGRM to record some whistles and other steam appliance sounds. They brought along a very large, very dirty steam whistle that was suppose to belong to Neil Young.
We attached the whistle to the vent pipe in the aux dome of the 2472 and installed an actuator rod. With a boiler full of steam, we pulled back on the rod - nothing. We pulled again. This time the whistle emited an asthmatic weeze, bubbled a bit, blew out an impressive wad of newly cooked spiders and old mouse nests, then audio Nervana!
What we were blowing must have been an old single chime N&W style hooter whistle. WOW!
Suffice it to say that the brass section of the Hunters Point Symphony Orchestra continued their free concert until the SFPD rolled up and requested that we kindly "shut the $*#^%! up".
Don't know that any of the sounds ever made into the digitized systems, but we sure had fun!
I'd love to hear different styles of whistles installed on the C&TS locos. It may be the only chance to hear some of them again.
