The problem is "planned". As engines are available work trains will be run as needed, which usually means on short notice. And of course until the snow is cleared, the line is blocked over Cumbres. The 19 has already done a little work out of Antonito (mostly testing it's repaired traction motors, so far so good), and will probably take some rail up the line next week. One problem we have is because of an unexpectly heavy early snow, the ballast cars got marooned and can't be moved to where they are needed until after the line is opened. Once the line is open, the Chama passenger equipment must be deadheaded from Antonito. Beyond that it depends on what needs to be done, but there will be a push to get as much work done as possible before the season opens, since clearing the passenger trains reduces productivity. So far as I know all snow clearing will be done by dozers and loaders.
