El Coke has some good comments. Along with the others. I do graphics and painting also, and there is one thing that I have noticed that others might want to think about. There are artist out there who will take a photograph, or very, very close copy and reproduce the work in some format (oil, pencil, water color etc.) They need to be careful. When you reproduce another persons work, even artistically, you are also walking the line on copywrite infringements, (if you think about reproducing them). Without permission from the original photographer, they could be knocking on your door. The laws are rather trickie here. So when you are having a piece done for you, make sure you have an understanding what you can and can't do.
