Going through a batch of fold out postcards this morning, I came across some images of a new to me Colorado narrow gauge railroad, the Castle Rock Scenic Railway (or Castle Rock Mountain Railway) in Golden;
The rather fanciful, at best, nature of the first view made me think that it might never have existed, but the second view seemed at least plausible. After some quick searching I found some photos on the Golden History Museum & Park's website (https://goldenhistory.pastperfectonline.com/bysearchterm?keyword=Castle+Rock+Scenic+Railway) that showed that the railway did indeed exist and operated from 1913 to 1919. From the photos, I would guess that it was 3' gauge at most.
Looks like it was interesting and probably a pretty neat ride. Should I ever find myself in Golden, I'll have to see if there is any trace of it left.
