THE LOCOMOTIVE "LA BURRITA": It was made in England in the year 1808 and brought to El Salvador in the year 1882 when the railroad from Acajutla to San Salvador was introduced. This machine worked on Steam (Water and Firewood) and was lit with firewood, 50 slices of which were cut to the size of the oven, it was given an hour and a half of heat so that it had the power to raise the steam and it worked for an hour and thus the same procedure was done again every hour. The Burrita locomotive transported coffee from the San Roque and San Rafael winery.
The Burrita Locomotive pulled carts loaded with coffee, El Salvador's main export product, for many years, each cart carried 100 bags of coffee and pulled 5 carts.
Because of the amount of load and because of that hard work they called her "LA BURRITA" Amigo! We share a little of this wonderful story of the Burrita in the Next Report!
