Here we see Oregon Lumber Co.'s 24 ton Shay #101 on a track construction train. #101 and sister #102 were both built in 1907 and came lettered for Sumpter Valley Ry. They don't seem to have actually been included on the Sumpter Valley roster, as their intended service was for the common carrier railroad's parent Oregon Lumber Co. Early on both engine had straight stacks with a small spark arrestor diamond and screen at the top. #101 at some point was equipped with the Radley & Hunter stack shown in this view. The engine were accessorized over the years with a fire fighting hose reel a top the cab, and a "gypsy winch" on the pilot for loading logs. #101 and #102 were retired around 1941. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
