Those photos remind me of a story I heard from the D&S during the Bradshaw era.

I understand that the D&S maintains a blasting permit and a stock of explosives to deal with large boulders on the track, etc. One year when the permit was due to be renewed, a Bradshaw VP in Florida refused approval of it to save money. In due time, a large boulder rolled onto the track, resulting in long delays while it was rolled off the track manually, resulting in many refunds. The VP's solution? An order to send work crews up the canyon to preemptively remove any boulder that might roll onto the track...
