Just another day on the railroad! Sumpter Valley Ry's. engineer is oiling around #250 at S Wye water tank following the ritual he performs every day. I wonder if he even noticed the photographer? The fireman does appear to be looking in the photographer's direction, but he appears like the engineer to be just going about his job as on countless other west bound trips. In the present day, SVRR trains pass over this same spot, which is sort of narrow gauge hallowed ground when you think back to this great photo and many others taken at the S Wye tank. There are a few reminders of the past if you know where to look. The concrete piers for the water tank are present as is some raised earth where the siding was. The tender that is behind #250 survives out behind the SVRR shop with engine #20. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
