482 and 480 double heading into Silverton in monsoon rain today

A number of times this summer, the monsoon rain started just as the daily double header arrived in Silverton. Today was different. It was raining hard as the train approached. As soon as the train stopped, the rain stopped, much to the delight of the passengers, I would imagine.

It was still raining merrily as 482 and 480 approached the Silverton depot



The rain stopped as soon as the train came to a stop, the passengers just had to step over the water running in the street



With the passengers safely in town, 482 and 480 are backing down



Helper 482 is backing to the wye first, to become the road engine on the return trip



By the time 480 backed down to the wye, the surface of the rainwater puddle had become glassy
