The 12 spot had a drifting throttle in the cab. Soapy Di Giobbi showed it to me in 1971 after the pull out of Tuolumne up to
the Flume. He reached forward and just flipped this small brass lever on the valve and you could hear the soft exhaust as
a minimum amount of steam went through the superheater. Neat device.
