I found a reference to the line going behind the new hotel, a 'landing" ( presumably a way stop ) was made there about 40 feet from the hotel , which is the current location of the present main building , which is near the creek, but on the opposite side to that shown in the image I originally posted, presumably it then crossed the creek via the bridge, a bit further on, but this still doesn't explain the fact that the station is on the other side of the creek. Heres a composite showing the hotel and the line disappearing behind it , this is the SAME side of the creek as the other image of the old hotel. This would be post 1885, if the old depot was in the same position they would have had to cross the creek twice in about 100 yards, unlikely . They must have decided to relocate the siding and depot at some time. They also had to fit the wye into a relatively flat space , there's only really one location for that , as its also shown with Mt Princeton behind it so it must have been on the new hotel side of the creek, going west, past this location there is a relatively flat bit of land where they have the passing siding located.
