Water for the Chama water tank, ashpit and the roundhouse come from a well just east of the shop. This well was dug in 1981. I helped in its construction. The well water is pumped into a cistern of D&RGW vintage and pumped to the tank and used for boiler in to locomotives, therefore it is non-potable. The shop restrooms are served by city water.
