Keep in mind snow pack according to the guys who run, manage Heron lake, dam was 102% of normal. That's where moisture, snow pack counts. The current rains have greatly reduced any fire danger in Chama.

There are a ton of dead Engleman Spruce above 8500ft in the national forest. Those trees were killed by bark beetles when George W Bush was president. Doesn't matter how much it rains. Those dead trees are a danger until felled or removed. And above 8500 ft is mostly where the rr runs. Serious dereliction of duty upon the forest service to not clean up the Engleman mess.
