Some old C&TS pix

This first picture was from a 1995 Jim Trowbridge charter, and if I remember correctly this is on Martinez Point. This track is either gone or was moved over to the left when Martinez Point was blown away in response the FRA concerns about the stability of the shelf. The DRGW guys were much less concerned....it hadn't moved in 100 years.



Then in October 2000 I caught the 488 late in the day spreading ballast west of Antonito. It had come into town on the passenger, and turned quickly for work train service until the sun went away.



Finally a year later the 19 was doing the honors somewhere west of Sublette I believe. The railroad was in tough shape, RGRPC was struggling, but progress was starting. For those who may remember, that is Mad Dog Collins in the blue sleeveless shirt. He had his nickname for good reason, he was a hard worker. The crew would go to work several hours before dawn to take advantage of the cool temps, but it gave one new guy who couldn't keep up with the pace time to quit before the sun came up.
