As much as I'd like to agree with yer post, Hank. There are trolls out there that go out of their way to rile up a community on purpose to get jollies and won't stop because it makes them feel powerful or whatever.
Being in the gaming world, folks have done it in the World of Warcraft setting (as well as other games that I play) that I've personally seen, especially when it was quite popular back in the past. Where people would go as far as modeling characters and doing research to make it look believable or acting like they know everything but instead people fall for the ruse & get angry over BS or fake information and this is way before the term "fake news".
For more recent examples, a lot of the troll social media pages go out of their way to see if they can't incite frustration in a community. Sawenhalve Scrap might be a good example for this as when their posts are shared to unsuspecting communities, and people fall for the "honey trap". They get upset over it but don't realize that they are just being trolled in the end.
With that said, as it has been mentioned in another thread - The Author - may or may not have mental disabilities. I can't say that for sure and personally, I figure it's none of our business. Yet, there are problems between the information that has been posted on NGDF and regardless of what is said; it still is posted a lot of times with incorrect information or topics that upset other members in the forum or comes off as a troll post with no regard of changing and even so if an unsuspecting individual sees it, it can cause havoc along with it.
An example of it being more a mental side: Another fellow who calls up museums about a certain blue box on wheels, gets a hold of people even so far as reaching out to personal social media accounts, phone numbers & emails along with recording videos off people's Youtube channels and putting it on their own and claiming it as their own to ask the same repeated questions over and over. Regardless of what people say or do towards the individual, it just doesn't stop.
Just my two cents of being a lurker myself on the interwebs,
