According to people I talked with at the Trains 1309 Charter in February, coupled with visual evidence, there is a serious horizontal and vertical angular issue with how the turntable lines up with the leads. Evidently the 734 barely makes it onto the turntable without derailing. The concern with the 1309 is that the front unit will swing to the left and drop while the rear unit is still going upgrade and pointing to the right. This will cause serious problems.

This was discussed in The End For WMSR 734? thread over at RYPN.

The fix will require regrading the upgrade portion so it will be level well back from the crossing as well as swinging further to the right to ease the curve. This will require redoing the station platform and tearing up and redoing the grade crossing. I was told it will be a couple of years before this will be done.
Per my post in the RYPN thread, I suspect that the tracks leading to the turntable cross over a gravity sewer line -- if so, then the fix could be considerably more complicated than just redoing the grade crossing.

Rick Rowland's suggestion of having the vertical curve be on the turntable itself (instead of the approach tracks) is an interesting idea.
