Nevada County Narrow Gauge Locomotive #5 Restoration

Those who plan to attend the "Great Western Steam-Up" at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in a few weeks are doubtless looking forward to seeing yet another, Victorian-era locomotive returned to service in the form of Nevada County Narrow Gauge #5, formerly Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Co #2 "Tahoe." This engine is apparently being restored to service using a boiler once built for the Glenbrook restoration. Recently, Juan Browne of YouTube's Blancoliro channel visited the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Museum near Nevada City, CA, and got a look at the restored locomotive, which is in the final stages of its restoration and should be tested under steam in the near future. The museum folks pulled her out of the barn for a detailed look. Although a sister to Glenbrook, built in 1875, she's being restored to a much later era, so she'll have a metal SP cab, a straight stack and she'll be burning oil. For now at least, it looks as if the engine is not being restored to FRA specs, so she'll be limited to running on insular track. Here's a link to the video:

I hope things go well for these folks and I am very much looking forward to seeing this engine in Carson City. I also need to put their museum on my to-do list. It looks like they have some track to run her on and some rolling stock to put behind her.
