Starting a new thread here as I think it is important to highlight what Russ489 just posted well down in the D&S Doubleheaders thread.
Not sure how many people realize that D&S will have all three K28's AND K-37 493 back in service at some point soon according to this post.
A great credit to the D&S for this feat, in addition to having three K-36s in the fleet too! And a fleet of diesels as well.
Just incredible.
Thank you D&S and congratulations on your resilience, adaptability and innovation towards what appears to be quite a successful business recovery.
Here is Russ489's post;
"With all the diesels in the mix now, one might wonder about the future of steam power on the D&S. Steam will continue to be the primary passenger power and there are no plans to reduce the steam fleet. 481 is still coal fired and will be the winter power along with 482 when its conversion to oil is completed. 473 and 476 will receive running gear and driver work this winter and 476 will begin the conversion to oil fuel after 482 is completed. 480 will receive running gear work. 493 will receive running gear and driver work along with some improvements to the fire pan. We plan to have 5 oil burning steam locomotives in service next summer."
