This classic 3/4 view is not an unknown image, but this copy is from a recent addition to our SVRR Archive as in last week! This is Sumpter Valley Ry. #18. She was one of 3 nearly identical Mikes built by Baldwin for the Sumpter Valley. She was effectively out of service when her tender was separated and shipped to the White Pass with #19 and #20 in 1941. In 1945, #18 was one of four Sumpter Valley engines sold to the government of Peru. Oddly, we have photos of the other three engines which were the other two Baldwin Mikes and 10 wheeler #50, in service down south, but #18 was seemingly "never heard from again". Perhaps she became a parts donor for the other 2 Mikes. At this point, it seems we may never know her fate.
